One of my favorite things about the winter is bringing out some of my vintage tailored topcoats. Sometimes during this time of year, all you need is a scarf and a winter weight suit constructed from tweed, wool, or corduroy, but once you factor in the wind chills an extra layer is essential.
I purchased this tweed topcoat with faux fur collar from a local thrift store last year, and only wore it once since then. I rarely ever wear black so naturally this coat didn’t see the light of day much. In fact, I was tempted to list it in my upcoming online store, but I decided to keep it for a while longer.
The faux fur collar provided some extra warmth, but the actual coat is lightweight. Like I previously mentioned tweed is one of my fabrics because it provides some great insulation. This topcoat in particular has a very regal aesthetic because of the fur collar. Therefore I decided to keep things simple and let the coat do most of the talking.
