I’ve mentioned once before that I’m on a mission to build a quality watch collection. Keep in mind that I’m no watch expert!
Therefore, when it comes to choosing the right watches for me, I just gravitate towards the watches that match my personal aesthetic.
For instance, if someone asked me to describe my style in a few words, I would say things like classic, simple, and sophisticated.
So it’s only right that my accessories compliment my style as well.
That’s why this black and gold watch from Vandy Watches is one of my new favorite timepieces. I picked it up during the holiday season and it quickly became one of my go-to watches because of it’s versatility.
That is usually the first thing that I consider when it comes to selecting watches (and everything else). I prefer watches that are versatile enough to wear with a suit one day and a black leather jacket the next!
Now if you’re also looking to build a quality watch collection, there are a couple things to consider.
Firstly, the size of the watch is very important. If you want something that can be worn in both professional and casual settings, I suggest getting a watch that measures 40-44mm wide (this watch case is 42mm).
Trust me, the last thing you want is something bulky and heavy on your wrist because it just looks tacky and unprofessional.
Secondly, the overall design is extremely important. This is a minimal watch so there aren’t a lot of bells and whistles about it. Just a classic, simple, and elegant design.
However, there are several watch designs to choose from such as chronographs, dive watches and even smart watches. In fact, watches tend to get a lot more complicated (and sometimes hard to read) once you really start collecting.
Honestly, I’m sure that my preferences will change as I continue to learn more about watches, but as for now, I think everyone’s first watch should have a classic design.
Then, once you have that covered you can start to branch out with different styles.
In fact, you can even say it’s similar to building a quality suit collection.
