I have found quite a few interesting and rare menswear items in local thrift stores over the past few years, I even discussed some of my best finds from last year. However, I always have to alter them in one way or another. Fortunately, this time around I found this alpaca sports coat just in time for the fall/winter season and not only is it from my favorite designer (Ralph Lauren), but it didn’t need any alterations at all.

Alpaca is a luxury fabric that is usually reserved for fall/winter clothing and accessories such as sweaters, coats, scarves and hats. I simply consider the fabric to be a step above cashmere, and a step below vicuna in terms of quality. However, since alpaca is a luxury fabric, it is usually associated with a high price tag. For instance, a similar wool/alpaca blazer by Ralph Lauren retails for $995, but I found this one for only $10.
On another note, this denim shirt will be in heavy rotation this season mainly because it pairs well with just about all of my sport coats and suits. So if you haven’t picked up a quality denim shirt this year, I strongly suggest you get one soon, after all it is one of my fall/winter essentials (more on that later).
