When I first started blogging back in 2013, it was primarily used to showcase my thrift store finds. At the time, I was an aspiring young professional (broke graduate student) and I figured that the best way for me to create a professional wardrobe was to shop at local thrift stores and consignment shops.
There I was able to purchase suits, blazers, shoes, and accessories for unbelievably low prices. In fact, I still wear some of those same pieces today!
However, since then “thrifting” has become even more popular and my style changed a lot. Therefore, it became increasingly harder to find quality items at thrift stores and my finds were limited to smaller things like briefcases and backpacks.
Fortunately, since I’ve moved to California I am starting to get lucky again because this salmon denim shirt/jacket/shacket is one of my latest finds!
I came across this salmon shacket in a Goodwill store in San Jose, CA. It was sandwiched between the typical baggy dress shirts and volunteer t-shirts that I always see in thrift stores but because of its unique color, this piece instantly stood out.
At first, I didn’t know what to think of it because it was definitely heavy enough to be considered a jacket, but it looked more like a shirt. So I checked to see the brand and of course it was unlabeled. It didn’t even have a price tag on it. So I decided to just try it on and after looking in the mirror for a little while I knew I had to have it.
So I quickly found a sales associate and asked him to out a price tag on it and BOOM!
He only charged me $6.50.
As you could imagine, I left that Goodwill feeling great because I couldn’t wait to pair it with my new favorite boots!
Now I think it’s safe to say that I’ve become inspired to start thrifting regularly again because believe it or not, I was starting to lose faith. However, that’s the beauty of shopping in thrift stores, you never know what you’ll find and how much you’ll find it for.
So stay tuned!
As always, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
