When the term “power suit” comes to mind, I immediately imagine a well-tailored suit constructed from a beautiful soft fabric. However, nothing conveys more power than a double breasted suit. Most people would equate a power suit with one that has pinstripes or heavy chalk stripes. Similar to what a seasoned CEO would wear, but as a young professional it is better to opt for a solid blue or gray double breasted suit.
Like every other suit, the power of the suit lies in its fit. Therefore, the jacket must provide a slim silhouette that is flattering but not tight. In terms of the button stances, there are several different button options to choose from such as the 6×2 (featured photo), 6×1, 4×2 and a 4×1 (featured here). Essentially, a 6×2 button stance means that there are 6 buttons on the jacket but only 2 of them can be fastened.
I paired this suit with my favorite pair of cap toe brogues. However, because of the dark buttons and the unique fabric of this suit, black shoes would also be an ideal option.
