I recently caught up with my brother Rashawn while I was in NYC and let’s just say it’s always a good time whenever we link up. It’s been a while since his first feature, so I thought it was only right to do a follow-up, especially since his first feature was one of my personal favorites. Here are three looks from Rashawn along with an update on his career in television production.

For most young professionals that work in a creative work environment like television production, the opportunities to wear a suit are rare. However, I’ve always believed that its important to own at least one great fitting suit and wear it whenever you feel like it.
“I feel like you can never go wrong with a navy suit. I honestly wish I had more opportunities to wear one, but since my work environment is so casual I hardly ever get the chance.”

I Like What I Like

One thing I have always admired about Rashawn’s style is his willingness to try new things and experiment with different trends. It comes as no surprise that I am not a very trendy person, but ever since I started featuring other people on the blog, I’ve been inspired to try some new things (more on that later).
“I honestly can’t explain my style. I literally just like what I like and I hate what I hate. Lately, I’ve been a huge fan of layering with longline and oversized tees. I just think it adds another element to any outfit. I’ve always been big on designer kicks and sneakers in general, so I was really excited for the new Yeezy’s to release. This was definitely the best Valentine’s Day ever.”

The Associate Producer

When I first featured Rashawn, he just finished working as an Associate Producer for VH1’s Black Ink Crew and A&E’s Surviving Marriage. From our conversations, I’ve learned that the television production industry is extremely competitive and it’s constant hustle. Therefore, building a large professional network and having a great personality is essential for having a lasting career.
“As far as my career goes, I am currently an Associate Producer for MTV’s Girl Code. I also work with the Director to help choose locations for sketches and field projects. My company, The Kandid Experience is also doing very well. I am constantly helping my clients bring their vision into fruition, whether it’s through photography, videography, or choreography. It just feels great to do what I love and express my creativity on a daily basis. “
