The first time I came across a suede biker jacket was around this same last year in Zara. At the time, their suede biker jacket was a new release and because I hate paying full price for anything, I decided to wait until it hit the sale rack.
Unfortunately, this jacket was so dope that it never actually made it to the clearance section.
Therefore, I vowed that the next time I came across a suede biker jacket (genuine suede and not that faux bu!!$h*+) that I would purchase it immediately. Then, after waiting almost a year later I finally found a similar jacket in Urban Outfitters.
I even featured it in my Fall Selects: Urban Outfitters post. However, I was apprehensive to paying nearly double the price for a similar suede jacket.
So instead of pulling the trigger, I decided to wait for the right one at the right price. Now fast forward a couple of weeks later and BOOM!
I found this jacket for half the price of the one from Urban Outfitters, and $50 less than the original one from Zara!
This jacket is from Wilsons Leather, the same company that makes everything from leather jackets, to footballs, to leather accessories and even leather pants. Therefore, Wilsons Leather knows a thing or two about quality leather goods, especially jackets!
I was actually disappointed in myself for not thinking of the company sooner. I actually stumbled upon their store during a recent trip to the Outlet in Gilroy, CA and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Especially, since it was on sale at the time!
Ironically, I spoke about some of the danger’s of purchasing things just because they are on sale and it sparked some good conversation over my social media channels. However, this piece is one of those items that usually never even goes on sale.
Trust me, I learned my lesson by waiting on Zara last year!
Now when it comes to wearing a suede biker jacket, there are a few things to consider.
First of all, the fit is the most important aspect. A slim fitting suede biker jacket like this one is not something that you will find in your local thrift store, and if you do it will most likely be in a baggy and unflattering silhouette. So make sure that it fits well in the sleeves, body, and shoulders.
Style Tip: Consider trying on a smaller size to achieve the best fit!
Secondly, when wearing this jacket always be keep everything else simple so that your jacket can really stand out. Hence the reason, I decided to break the rules and wear black and brown together (more on that later).
Last but certainly not least, make sure you consider the weather and your environment before you wear this jacket. A suede leather jacket is definitely susceptible to stains, so avoid wearing it in the rain or to any events where drinks might be getting passed around.
Nothing can ruin your entire day quicker than someone spilling their rum and coke on your new favorite jacket!
As always, thanks for reading!
