2016 was an interesting year for men’s fashion. As I continued to explore the strengths of classic men’s style, the fashion world continued to propel terrible trends like athleisure and cropped blazers to the forefront.
Therefore, I’m sure that if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you also share similar sentiments of disgusts, confusion and overall disappointment.
So here are 7 men’s style trends that I hope die in 2017!
Short Suit Jackets
Short/cropped suit jackets (and blazers) have been trending for a few years now and every year I keep hoping that it stops. Unfortunately, it seems like things are getting worse as the year’s go by.
In my opinion, a suit jacket and or blazer should always cover your ass!
I’ve actually liked a few photos on Instagram of people wearing jogger pants last year. In fact, I even went to J.Crew and tried on a pair (hated it).
However, I think as easy as it was for me to try on a pair and realize that it wasn’t for me. Thousands of other men should have done the same thing.
I was definitely a victim of wearing jeans and trousers that were too tight. When I first discovered the art of tailoring, I made ALL of my jeans and trousers skinny.
Trousers are supposed to be comfortable and elegant, not comparable to leggings!
Now I gotta blame Kanye for propelling this nonsense. Don’t get me wrong you can definitely catch me wearing a pair of basketball shorts over my compression pants while I’m at home working out, in the gym working out, or even outside working out!
But it has never been a good idea to do this in public!
Overly Distressed Jeans
I will always appreciate a quality pair of distressed jeans, especially if the distressing occurs naturally. However, if your jeans have too many rips and holes in them that’s when you have a problem!
Natural fading is always a plus, one of two rips is cool, but anything more than that is an accident waiting to happen!
I’m sure a bunch of people are going to disagree with this one, but whatever!
I love military inspired leather jackets, field jackets, and even camo print as a whole. However, when it comes to wearing military boots I just never understood it. They were always too big and bulky for me and they’re just too costumey for my liking.
I definitely have to blame Kanye again for this one!
Okay, honestly I’m just hating since I can’t grow a beard. These brothers look great and I follow most of them on Instagram!
Hopefully, in 2017 my facial hair will finally start to grow!
As always, thanks for reading and please share some trends that you will like to see end in 2017 in the comments below!
