Made to Measure Suits: Oliver Wicks

I partnered with Oliver Wicks to review one of their made to measure suits. Check it out on
In the past, I mentioned that I have fell in love with the made to measure aspect of menswear after being first introduced to do it by partnering with online retailers, Tailor4less and Mtailor. After those experiences, I decided to purchase my first made to measure suit from Bureau. This time around, I’ve been fortunate enough to team up with online retailer, Oliver Wicks formerly known as Dragon Inside, to review one of their made to measure suits.

Firstly, when it comes to customer service, Oliver Wicks made my entire experience extremely simple and enjoyable, especially considering the fact that all of our communication was handled via email. I was impressed by how well versed the Oliver Wicks team was in terms of design and at how quickly they were able to address all of my questions and concerns. When it comes to purchasing made to measure clothing, I always believe customer service is one of the most important aspects because the overall experience is what truly separates purchasing custom clothing and buying something off the rack.
Now in terms of the final product I was most impressed with the fit of the jacket. I was actually expecting to make some alterations on the jacket because when I took my initial measurements, I was still working out on a fairly consistently basis and I wanted to take my potential muscle gain/weight loss into consideration. However, once my suit arrived the only thing that needed minor alterations were the trousers because they were not slim enough for me. Fortunately, Oliver Wicks covers any extra tailoring bills up to $120.

Hand sewn buttons and functional cuffs

In terms of the specifics, I decided to go with wide peak lapels, natural shoulders, patch pockets, and cuffed trousers, all constructed from a grey windowpane fabric by Vitale Barberis Canonico. One thing that I really appreciated was the fact that Oliver Wicks provides a swatch kit of up to 12 sample fabrics. This was extremely helpful because I was able to touch and feel the fabric before it went into production, instead of just making my decision based on photos.

The only area that I believe needs improvement is the amount of custom options available on the site. For instance, I would have preferred to have more options in terms of choosing the width of the lapel, the style of buttons (I changed the buttons myself), and the positioning of the monograms. Ironically, I’ve come to realize that an inexperienced customer could do with out those options because it can make the overall experience more stressful. However, they do offer more custom options upon request, such as incorporating a natural shoulder to your jacket. All in all, I am extremely impressed and satisfied with my final result and this suit will be in heavy rotation this season.
