In my opinion, a plaid cotton suit is ideal for those warm spring/summer days when you feel like being suited but don’t want to look like you’re going to work. Ironically, I thought I wouldn’t wear this suit often because it was so bold, but it has become one of my go-to options for the weekend.
So here are some tips on how to wear a plaid suit!
Plaid Suit & Sneakers
Just like any other suit, the main thing to focus on is the FIT. Fortunately, this one didn’t need much alterations besides a simple hem to the pants but I am used to that since Uniqlo never has pants in my size.
Therefore, I always have to alter them to ensure so that I can look just a little bit taller.
- Keep it Simple. When it comes to styling a bold plaid suit, the best advice I can offer is to keep it simple. A crisp white shirt, white pocket square, and a pair of white sneakers is all you need because this suit will already stand out on its own.
- Limit the Accessories. In terms of accessories, keep it simple as well. So avoid wearing a wrist of bracelets or a colorful pocket square.
- Have Fun. While wearing a bold plaid suit, you want to make sure that your confident but at the same time, you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously. At the end of the day, it is a fun bold print so you will most likely receive several compliments throughout the day. So just be ready to receive some good energy from others.
