It’s no surprise that I hardly ever wear black shoes!
I own a lot of shoes in various different colors and styles but most of them are brown. That’s because I wear earth tones all year round, so having a wide array of brown shoes just makes more sense for my wardrobe.
However, I always believed that black shoes are an essential for every man’s wardrobe. The problem was that I just couldn’t find a style that I could see myself wearing often. Fortunately, I finally got my hands on a pair of black shoes that are versatile enough to wear with a suit or a pair of jeans.
So here is one way to wear a black pair of horsebit loafers!
Grey Windowpane Suit w/Black Horsebit Loafers
The horsebit loafer is sometimes referred to as the “Gucci loafer.”
That’s because Gucci saw the popularity of the penny loafer and upgraded it with a metal strap across the front in the shape of a horse’s snaffle bit. Wealthy businessmen quickly adapted the new take on a classic and the rest was history!
Ironically, until Gucci designed the horsebit loafer, their brand was known for their luggage and other leather goods.
Today, several brands have put their own unique spin on the classic.
For instance, the silhouette on these horsebit loafers make it even more versatile in my opinion. Some of them have very round toe boxes, which in turn gives it a very casual vibe. In other words, it’s almost impossible to wear them with a suit.
On the other hand, some horsebit loafers are very sleek and narrow which it makes it seem a little too formal to wear with jeans. Therefore, the goal is to find the perfect silhouette that can easily be dressed up or dressed down so you can get the most value for your money!
Also, since we’re still in the early days of spring, it’s time to invest in some no-show socks so you can show some ankle this season!
