Best Thrift Store Finds of 2015

Vintage Military Jacket

Although I didn’t visit thrift stores as often as I would have liked to this year, I still managed to find some really dope and interesting pieces. After sharing some of my best thrift store pickups of 2014 seen here, I wanted to continue the series and share some of this year’s best thrift store finds. Hopefully you will be inspired to visit some of your local thrift stores, because you really never know what you might find!

Classic Seersucker
Seersucker at the end of the summer…
I found this classic seersucker blazer earlier this year just in time for the summer. I wore it quite often because it was the perfect weight for those hot summer days. It only needed a minor alteration to the body and it was good to go. Check out the original post here
Military Field Jacket

Vintage Military Jacket

This military field jacket was one of my favorite finds of the year. It was one of my spring essentials, especially when I was shooting others for features. I actually found the “Ruger Firearms” patch at a different thrift store location and sewed it on myself. It was a small addition but it really brought the jacket to life. Alpaca Sport Coat
I thrifted this Ralph Lauren alpaca sport coat and did not need to alter it at all. It is easily one of my best thrift store finds of 2015.
This is one of the few thrifted pieces that I didn’t have to alter, that’s just one of the reasons why Ralph Lauren is my all-time favorite brand. Check out the original post here

Double Breasted Waistcoat
When the right wind blows…
I was in search for a quality double breasted waistcoat for a long time, and this was the first one I found. At first, I thought it was a custom made piece until I recently came across another one at a different thrift store. Check out the original post here.
Leather Bomber Jacket

Ironically, I already had a similar brown leather bomber jacket, but when I saw this one I couldn’t go home without it. This one fit much better than the one I found last year and as a result, it has become one of my winter essentials. I will most likely sell the other one in an effort to free up some space in my closet.

Suede Briefcase
Double breasted + Double monks
I was apprehensive about purchasing this piece because I already acquired several briefcases over the past few years. However, after using it a couple of times, I gave it away to someone that could really put it to good use and appreciate it more than I could. Check out the original post here

Leather Backpack
Thrifted Leather Back Pack
This leather backpack has been with me during every trip/vacation and it is one of the few bags that I actually wouldn’t give away. Check out the original post here
Vintage Fabrics
New thrift store pick up..Vintage Fabrics
This is my latest thrift store find, in fact I actually found this suit yesterday so I didn’t even get it tailored yet. This suit was a must-have not only because the fabric is so unique but it also featured natural shoulders, which is rare for most vintage suits. I will be sure to post this suit in its entirety once I get it altered (more on that later).
As always, thanks for reading and I hope you have a prosperous and Happy New Year!
Yours truly,
Akil McLeod
