One of the most common questions that I get during this time of the year is, “How do I stay cool in the summer time?”
Of course, the easiest thing to do is to wear less clothes. Therefore t-shirts, tank tops, and shorts instantly come to mind. However, if you have to wear a blazer for work or you simply want to dress well this season, your best and only options are to wear light and airy fabrics.
My two favorite fabrics to wear during the summer is linen and seersucker. They are great when worn they’re separately but even more effective when they’re worn together.

Now that we’re in the middle of Summer, staying cool is priority number one. And nothing keeps you cooler than wearing light and breathable fabrics like linen and seersucker. Linen blazers have always been one of my go-to options on the hottest days when I want to stay tailored.
Unfortunately, because of it’s light construction it can get wrinkled very quickly, especially around the shoulders, elbows, and back!
As a result, this can be a turn off for some people and because it can seem a little too casual for certain occasions. However, if you ask me, I just think you should embrace the wrinkles!
Similar to linen, seersucker is also an airy and breathable fabric that helps keep you cool in the summer. Fortunately, most designers have started to use dyed seersucker instead of the traditional striped fabric that you usually see worn by southern gentlemen.
Nowadays, it’s quite common to find a seersucker piece in a more versatile color like white, navy, or tan so it definitely won’t be hard to find!
