Beckett Simonon: Quality Over Quantity

Ever since I started my entrepreneurial journey and quit my full-time job in Higher Education I have found myself wearing dress shoes less frequently. In fact, I could probably count the number of times that I wore dress shoes in the past month with one hand so that just shows how circumstances have changed with me.

Therefore, over the past couple of months I’ve decided to focus on quality over quantity when it comes to my dress shoe and sneaker collection. I have slowly started to downsize my collection so that I can focus on only rocking the shoes that I really like and that give me the most bang for my buck in terms of its versatility.

Hence, the reason I’ve fell in love with this pair of Valencia Wholecuts from Beckett Simonon. For those of you that follow along with the blog, you already know that this is not my first experience with the Beckett Simonon brand.

In fact, these Valencia Wholecuts in tan calfskin leather are my third pair of shoes from the brand. My first shoe from Beckett Simonon was a pair of all white leather sneakers that are unfortunately no longer in production because all of their products are made in small batches and are only available until it reaches capacity or the campaign ends.

However, they have been getting a ton of wear and will continue to be in heavy rotation since the Spring and Summer is around the corner. And the last time I wore a pair of dress shoes, it was actually for a business meeting and I wore the Hoyt double monk straps in the tan calfskin color way.

Needless to say, I received a ton of compliments about my shoes to and from that meeting!

The Valencia Wholecut In Tan Calfskin Leather By Beckett Simonon

When it comes to the Valencia Wholecuts, I love this shoe for several different reasons. For starters, this is my first time owning a pair wholecut shoes. I usually only gravitate towards double monk straps and tassel loafers. But in my opinion, the wholecut adds a more sophisticated yet casual approach to my outfits.

Another reason, why this shoe will remain in my collection for years to come is because of its overall comfortability. This was a date night outfit and I wore these shoes for about 5 hours. And for those of you that commonly wear sneakers on a daily basis, you know that wearing dress shoes with a leather sole can be very uncomfortable and can take some time getting used to. However, after putting these on it felt amazing!

Thirdly, I really like these shoes because the creasing that is usually inevitable when it comes to leather shoes was practically non-existent even after walking around the city for a few hours. Fortunately, this is pretty common with Beckett Simonon shoes because I had the same thing to say about their Hoyt model.

Here are some additional specs on the Valencia Wholecuts.

Details. These are handmade one at a time in small batches by master artisans from a single piece of Argentinian full grain leather. They also feature a full grain leather lining for extra breathability, waxed cotton laces so your laces stay tied all day long, and they have a sturdy resole-able leather sole. Last but not least, they are covered by a 1-year warranty!

Sizing. These shoes fit true to size, so if you wear a size 10.5 like I do, you will be just fine!
