I definitely don’t wear black often. In fact, I usually gravitate towards earth tones like shades of browns, blues, and greens. Sometimes, I might even inject a pop of color if I feel like switching things up.
Lately, I’ve been receiving questions about how to make a statement with your outfit. Fortunately, that’s something I can talk about for days because I’ve been doing just that for years!
I already shared some ways on how to make a statement by wearing bolder fabrics. However, if you want to make a statement with less, you can always try a monochromatic look like this all navy outfit or something more casual like this all black look.
All Black Everything
In my opinion, rocking all black has always been synonymous with making statements. Civil rights heroes like Huey P. Newton and members of The Black Panthers come to mind.
Whether you’re “dressing up” or dressing more casually, wearing all black can be an quick go-to move if you want to make a statement and look great, without putting in a lot of effort.
For instance, this all black outfit was inspired by this suede leather trucker jacket.
Like I said earlier, I usually stick with earth tones but I figured if I’m going to actually wear black I might as well go all in and wear all black. However, the focus was to make sure that the jacket stood out on it’s own!
Another thing to consider when going with a monochromatic look is to not worry about wearing the exact same shade of the color.
For instance, the jacket, t-shirt, and jeans are definitely not the same shade of black (mainly because they are different textures) but I was still able to create a simple and cohesive, all black outfit!
