Living in Buffalo, NY requires a pair of boots that are rugged enough to withstand the snow and forces of nature, yet sleek enough to wear with a pair of fitted denim jeans. Fortunately enough, the Men’s Abe Canvas Boot by Cat Footwear provides the best of both worlds. I was recently asked to provide a product review for the Spring/Summer 2014 Men’s Abe Canvas Boot. I must admit that I was apprehensive at first because the Cat Footwear brand is commonly known for their rough and rugged work-wear boots. Therefore, I did not think their shoes would match my personal aesthetic. However, after doing some research on the brand’s recent activity such as their Blogger Event in NYC, I learned that the brand’s latest collection focuses on quality, rugged leathers, old-fashioned craftsmanship and sophisticated details that defy their modest price tag.
The Men’s Abe Canvas boot features a beautiful combination of rugged canvas and smooth leather. I particularly love the earthy color palette that allows you wear an array of grays, greens, blues, and browns. The boot is composed of tumbled full grain leather, a canvas upper and canvas lining, PVC midsole, molded Rubber outsole, and an impeccable Goodyear welt construction.

For those unfamiliar, the benefit of a shoe which is made using the Goodyear welt construction is that the shoe can be resoled repeatedly, giving the shoe a much longer lifespan, sometimes even decades. It also provides some added ventilation and breath-ability. Therefore, your feet will remain comfortable and won’t become sweaty and smelly after wearing them for long periods of time.
Like I previously mentioned, since I currently reside in Buffalo, NY, owning a comfortable pair of quality boots that can withstand the snow are quintessential. Therefore, these boots will be worn heavily as the winter draws near. Unfortunately, these particular Abe Canvas Boots are not due to hit stores until next year, but you can pick up a similar pair in a different color way here.
